Find Out Whether Your Heat Pump System Could Run Better
An air-to-water heat pump can be operating correctly without the heating and hot water system running as efficiently as it could. Sterio Renewables’ Heat Pump Efficiency Assessment examines how the complete system works together and identifies practical improvements that may reduce energy use, improve comfort or help the heat pump operate more smoothly.
The on-site assessment is carried out by a Heat Geek trained installer and usually takes around one hour. Every property and installation is different, so our recommendations are based on the equipment, controls and system behaviour we find in your home.
What We Assess
We review the heat pump alongside the wider heating and hot water system. Depending on the installation, this may include:
- How frequently the heat pump starts and stops
- Flow temperatures and heating controls
- Hot water settings and operating schedules
- How heat is distributed through radiators or underfloor heating
- Whether the system appears appropriately configured for the property
- Available operating data and patterns that may point to avoidable energy use
Frequent cycling is one issue we may investigate, but it is not the only measure of efficiency. We consider the system as a whole before making any recommendations.
What You Will Receive
Within one week of the visit, we will send you a written report setting out:
- Our observations and findings
- Recommended adjustments or improvement work
- The reasons for each recommendation
- An estimate of potential annual electricity cost savings where sufficient reliable data is available
If physical changes or additional work are recommended, we will provide a separate quotation. You can then decide whether you wish to proceed.
Efficiency Assessment, Routine Service or Repair?
A routine heat pump service checks that the installed equipment is operating correctly and covers the maintenance tasks required to keep it in good working order.
An efficiency assessment goes further by examining how the heat pump, heating emitters, hot water system and controls perform together. Its purpose is to identify whether the complete system could operate more efficiently.
If your heat pump has broken down, is displaying a fault code or is not producing heat, this assessment is not the correct booking. Please visit our heat pump servicing and maintenance page for the appropriate support.
Assessment Cost
€200 plus VAT, paid online when booking.
After payment, we will contact you to arrange a suitable date for the on-site assessment.
If you proceed with recommended work costing more than €1,000 before VAT, the full efficiency assessment fee will be credited against your final invoice.
Who Is This Assessment For?
This service is suitable for homeowners whose air-to-water heat pump is working but who are concerned about electricity use, uneven comfort, frequent cycling or whether the system has been configured as effectively as possible.
Sterio Renewables serves customers across Dublin, Kildare, Meath, Wicklow, Laois, Offaly and the wider Leinster area.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the assessment take?
The on-site visit usually takes around one hour, although this may vary depending on the system and the information available.
When will I receive my report?
Your written findings and recommendations will normally be issued within one week of the visit.
Does the assessment include repair work?
No. The assessment identifies possible improvements. Any adjustment, repair or upgrade work will be quoted separately.
Will the report guarantee a specific saving?
No. Where there is enough reliable operating and electricity-use data, we may provide an estimate of potential annual savings. Actual results depend on the property, weather, energy prices and how the system is used.
Is the assessment fee refundable?
The assessment fee covers the on-site visit and written report. If you proceed with recommended work worth more than €1,000 before VAT, we will credit the full assessment fee against your final invoice.
